Hi! My name is Dawn Thomson and I am the girl who captures all the wild beauty for THE LOVERS! Photography is like a language to me…a way for me to translate how I feel mood, emotion and the way the light transforms a moment in time. It is poetry.
My life has been a journey of transience from Europe to Australia and now New Zealand. There is a raw and wild beauty about New Zealand that feeds the soul and takes your breath away. Words cannot express how the nature in NZ makes me feel and that is why I take photos. I feel compelled to put people in these wild landscapes and document the result. The mood and majesty of the landscape plays a lead role in every photo session and I love how my couples react to the inspiration and each other…this is no awkward posing…this is real emotion and raw moments. This is the magic that makes my heart sing!
My photographic experience covers editorial, fashion and fine art photography. The hopeless romantic inside of me is passionate about small intimate love gatherings called Elopements! My couples seek to shake off the shackles of traditional weddings and replace it with pure romance and adventure. Their love is the centre of the day and there is no stress, tight timelines and table seating plans to take away from what this is all about. This is when I am in my element too!
Collaborating with fellow artists who share the same passion and aesthetics as me is one of the reasons I co-founded The Lovers Elopement Co. I also just want to share my passion with my couples on how incredible we can make their day.
